Trixie's thinking the opposite - not Vecna, but the boy who was able to get himself under control before he killed or tortured any more people. Before that stupid fucking institute caught him.

"Alright," she says quietly, and gets up to cut them both a slice. She hands him a small plate and a fork and keeps one for herself. "Carrot cake. Ever had it?"

"Of course I have," he says with a scoff, but takes the plate. "My mother delighted in baking."

"Only tried it once myself," she says, trying a bite.

Goddamn, that cream cheese frosting is delightful. "Jewel didn't really do baking. More like burning bacon and coffee."

"Who's Jewel?" he mutters, running his tongue along the back of the fork.

It is good, dammit.

"Gimp that lived in the whorehouse where I worked. Sweet as fucking pie, but had a fucking mouth on her."

She smiles to herself. It's clear she adores her.

"Did everyone have a mouth on them?" he grumbles, not really interested in the workings of any whorehouse.

"All except the fucking rich," she laughs. "And even then, they'd warm up to it eventually. You ever cussed someone out before?"

"No," he snorts. "What good does that do?"

Except get him in trouble.

"Feels fucking great," she grins. "You should try it sometime."

That gets a flat look. "No thank you."

He knows that he's not going to be punished for it, but twenty years of habits isn't going to go away.

"Maybe one day."

She has another bite of the cake before she decides she's done with it.

"Help me on the breakfast shift tomorrow? I want to teach you how to make eggs."

He isn't done with his cake. He does put it away, though, mirroring her actions at the moment. "Do I have a choice?"

"Nope. You gotta learn how to fry a fucking egg."

She gets up and cleans up her mess, putting his chair back and picking up the cigarette from the floor.

"See you bright and early!"

He gives her a little wave as he rolls his eyes and picks his cake back up when the door closes.

She'll take an eye roll or two; her secondary goal for tomorrow is to make him curse. She's sure she can be that annoying.

Trixie takes her cake back to the cabin she shares with Kiryu to enjoy a nice cup of tea with it.
